    The American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs), founded in 2011 by Teddy Grouya, is an annual celebration of documentary films and independent filmmaking. A 501(c)(3) non-profit, AmDocs debuted in April 2012 in Palm Springs, California, honoring Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone on its opening night and showcasing 80 international films. Over the years, the festival has honored notable figures like Dionne Warwick, George Takei, Julie Cohen, and Peter Bogdanovich.

    AmDocs has earned recognition as one of the “Five Coolest Documentary Film Festivals” by MovieMaker Magazine and is consistently ranked among the Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals by FilmFreeway.com. Reviewing approximately 2,000 films annually, the festival highlights diverse storytelling through documentaries, animations, and shorts. Initiatives like the Film Fund Pitch Competition have supported the creation of Emmy-winning and Oscar-shortlisted films. Additionally, its North-South Doc Network fosters collaboration between international festivals, furthering global documentary awareness and exchange.
